Snuggle Bear

Finn wouldn't get up from his nap without his bear. It was so sweet. I love that he needs a snuggler now.

Zoobilee Zoo

We went to the zoo, despite the rampant tornadoes and storms of late, and it actually worked out well for us. There was only a light sprinkle as we were leaving and it was cool and comfortable.

Finn was a bit grumpy that day but had a wonderful time in the petting zoo touching the goats, miniature horse (terrifying), and yelling at the chickens. He was also a big fan of the piglets becuase they were so cute we all wanted to take them home.

There were also some humping goats that were super nasty and I won't post the hilarious video for that reason.

I think he liked the underwater creatures best, and the bears. Not so big a fan of the big cats or rainforest critters. Much to Tom's chagrin, he's really into high-pitched, squeaky birds.

Dad, are you sure this is a real animal??

Speeding a long in my radio flyer. You wished you looked this good in your pimped out ride.

Snuggling in the Mei Tai with daddy when he got too tired for the wagon.

Awesome! More grapes!

GOATS! I LOVE THESE!

There were 17 little piglets and they drank milk like I did when I was a baby. I loved them but daddy wouldn't let me and mommy take them home.

What a long day-- I'm so tired! Side note-- he needs something to snuggle with in order to sleep now, it's so cute!

Foot Fetish

A good place for my shoes, according to Finn.

Playing with Daddy

I wonder if that horse it going to hold. Thanks Grandma and Poppa for the great toy. You're the best garage-salers I've ever met.
Why does Tom look more excited than Finn?

Oh, time to get his tickle berries.

He's finally sitting on the horse by himself!!! Go daddy!

Bed head and daddy chillin', illin', cold-killin'.

Look at that hot man. Man, did I score. You wish you had that hottie.

A hottie and a cutie. How could I possible do better for myself???

The Hair Monster

This is real bed head. Yikes.

Matteson Fest

Well, we tried to go to Matteson Fest (Yahoo Fest) and we did NOT have much fun. Finn is still too small for all this. I was also really bummed there was no ferris wheel and the superslide was broken (a fond dad memory for me). I hope to go back later today to hit the slide if it's fixed yet.

He seemed to enjoy the scenery, adn the ride in his special wagon very much.

Well, here he looks bored but I swear he was screaming and laughing the whole way.

This is where he went to town on my lemonade shake-up (GOD, do I love those!) He really liked it, especially since he could drink it through a straw, and eventually I had to put some in his sippy cup so I could have some.

SUGAR RUSH!!!

This is how Finn enjoyed the Merry Go Round. And by enjoy, I mean screamed constantly and had no fun at all. This was the only pic I could get because he was clinging to me so tightly.
Let's hope we have better luck at the super slide. He really loves slides, so I hope so.

More Tornado

Here it is near Manhattan, right before it touched down in Monee.

Tornado!!!

Well, yesterday was interesting. This video was taken less than 5 miles from home. It is the weekend of Matteson Fest and it's about 30 feet from the house, so the neighborhood is filled with Yahoos, and we've had to tranquilize the dogs to make sure they don't get too upset.

The sirens went off and the yahoos all went home and the weather channel was saying this was a 'serious tornado of F2-F3 in strength.' Well, I was panicked, and Tom was blase, as usual. We got Finn, some water, shoes, a large comforter, all the dopey dogs (who fell down the stairs becuause they were so dopey), my father in law's poodle who were sitting, the diaper bag, my purse, celly, and some other provisions, and we settled into the basement, watching the weather on Pretzel's TV.

Then we heard the storm was down in Monee, then down in Richton Park on Sauk Trail, which is about three miles away. The storm was intense when it hit. The rain and thunder and lightning were intense, loud, and directly overhead. I kept waiting for the loud freight train sound to lead us into the bathroom, and was nervous about the dopey dogs and getting them all safe. The tranq's were really a blessing, though, because Bromo is TERRIFIED of storms and would have been such a handful! I don't have room in my lap for a 65 pound beast and a 22 pound baby!

Needless to say, it passed without incident (to us) and all is well, but it sure gave us quite a fright. It also made us like an hour and a half late to Meva's 'last supper'. But we're really grateful that we were spared. And feel badly for the people whose homes lost roofs, sheds, garages, etc.

Another Top Ten List

Top Ten New Things about Finn:

1. He uses sign language with some regularity. His vocab includes: more, please, food, drink, dog, shoes, night time, wash hands, bath/shower, car, and a few others.

2. He ALMOST says 'thank you'. You get a grunty little two syllable 'ank oooo' when you give him something he really wanted or he has said please for.

3. He can climb in and out of the tub, high chair, couch, bed, dining room chairs, closets, and much more with no assistance at all. And he NEVER gets stuck. And he NEVER falls. I think I may have an acrobat on my hands.

4. He can turn on and off the TV and movies with the remote and LOVES it. I suppose there is something inherently masculine about the remote.... or at least he's already been socially programmed to think so already.

5. He REALLY likes to wear pants and no shirt. All he needs is a beer and a bride, and he's all set for 'My Big Redneck Wedding' on CMT. Which, by the way is the funniest show I have EVER seen and you MUST watch it.

6. He takes off his shoes all by himself, and has really smelly feet. You can smell them in the front seat when he takes them off in the car, and wearing sandals (to aerate his feet) does nothing to dispell this problem. He thinks it's really funny when you tell him he has stinky feet. Especially if you hold your nose.

7. He got his fourth bottom front tooth, and there looks to be an upper I-tooth coming in shortly.

8. He likes to dance, and spin, and does both on command.

9. When you tell him something is daddy's, he leaves it alone. This does not work for mommy's things. What a boys' club.

10. He really loves to search for hidden treasures in the garbage can and recycle bin, and has an amazing ability to get their lids off with no noise and find gross stuff in there in no time flat. He takes advantage of mommy's 'five more minutes in bed' and does this every chance he can. It's totally gross, but the boy has mad skills so I have to give him props.

11. ( I know, I'm cheating) He's afraid of the grind feature of the coffee pot, and will run really fast, screaming with his hands in the air waving wildly when it turns on. It's the most hilarious thing I have ever seen. It turns on automatically in the morning, and scared him to death a few times, and it was the funniest thing ever. Truly, I wish I had video for you.
