Member of the Cabinet

As you all know, we are moving, and starting to get the house in order. We're recently emptied the hutch and china cabinet, and Finn thinks they are the best forts he has ever been in. I simply can't keep him out of there without taping them shut, and that will just damage the wood. He's so frickin cute I can't stand it.

Here he is in the hutch.

And here he is in the china cabinet.

Drinking Contest

Finn's newest game is to drink from a big boy cup. He likes whatever you are drinking, and I've taken to drinking my orange juice in the kitchen while he plays, because he often drinks my whole glass.

Here he is sharing a water with dad, and having a splendid time of it.

The battle of wounded finger

Aptly named because it was so hard to get these pics after he had chewed off his first band aid. The video is the only thing that even came close to capturing his partially closed wound. Poor little guy. Even if he is accident prone, I still admire his adventurous spirit.

Peeled like a carrot

In the tub yesterday, Finn smashed his toys together, and promptly started screaming. It took a minute to figure out what was wrong, but his thumb was bleeding. Upon closer inspection, a large flap of skin was hanging (about the size and width of a carrot peel) from his thumb, and went from the tip to the base of his finger. This hurt him very much, and I could not use a band-aid, because the sticky parts would stick to the wound.

So, I got dressed and RAN to the Walgreens to get pain relief spray, and those 'blister' band-aids, which are awesome. They morph to your finger and don't stick or tear off. You can leave them on for days, are comfortable, and they work really well. I use them when I use the sharp knives and cut my fingers open instead of stitches. I'm not allowed to use those anymore.

Anyway, I still have NO IDEA how this happened, and have inspected the toys, the tub, the spout, and the drain with no results. It still hurts him, and is still pretty gross looking, but today he chewed off the bandage, so it must feel a little better. I will put another one on him later on, and keep it on there as long as I can so he doesn't tear it open again.

Honestly, this kid!!

Oh, and on a lighter note, when he sees or hears a train, he says CHOO CHOO. I think this might be the first word other than the basics. It's really cute.

Handy Manny

Handy Manny is a bilingual show on the Disney Channel that Finn likes. They sing songs, and are cheery, so we overlook the blatant stereotypes and let him watch it.

Anyhow, they had a GIANT balloon of him and bought it for him. I'm sure it cost like $15.

So, we got it home, and Finn was TERRIFIED of it, because he would run with and he thought it was chasing or attacking him. I attached a video of his terror. It was SO funny. Eventually he got over it, and now he loves it, chasing it, punching it, tackling it, and trying to kill it. I'm not sure which was funnier.

The dinner roll debacle

I was so exasperated the other night! I bought a brand new package of dinner rolls, and set them out for dinner on the dining room table. I planned on packaging most of them, and freezing them for use with some frozen homemade pesto sauce (Tom) for a fast pasta dinner.

I swear, I only left for a MOMENT, and when I came back in, there were 6 rolls placed neatly on a shelf in my hutch, right at Finn's height. The bag was on the floor, apparently having been thrown from the table which Finn climbed onto, and Murrey was feasting on the rest. The six rolls Finn had gotten to ALL had one bite taken out of them. Just one. The little snot. I would have killed him if I wasn't laughing so hard.

Here is the evidence.

The scene of the crime. This is the chair he moved to climb onto the table. Can you see a roll behind his head? Click to enlarge the picture.

Here he is stacking them and placing them 'just so', as well the package of compromised dinner rolls on the floor.

Here are the rolls, and Finn walking away, satisfied with their placement.

Here are the rolls with incriminating bites, placed on the dining room table for contrast.

A close up of his tasty handywork.

Talkin' the talk

Finn's language development is improving. He had words, like mee mee for mommy, and chees for cheese, and a few others, but doesn't use them that often. Instead, he is trying to say whole sentences but smashing them into one long word. It's awesome and cute.

I spend most of my day yelling at Murrey (a long story), and Finn tries to mimic me saying 'go-ay' for away, 'ay-own' for lay down, 'itchy, itchy' for kitchen, and many others. It's really cute. I wonder if he will skip right into sentences, it will be interesting to watch.

He also walks around most of the day hollering his gobbledygook at us in his own little language, and really isn't quiet unless he is sleeping. He will definitely be a talker, but we knew that. Tom and I are both pretty talkative.

He also mounts Bromo, and moreso since we got back from California. He misses Shamrock, who is a puppy and really into playing-- much more than my dogs are. Bromo is old and fat and Murrey is a neurotic spaz who spends all day combing the house for Finn's leftovers, hanging out under where I am walking, and perpetually trying to get on the 'other' side of the gate, no matter which gate. Anyway, I keep trying to get a picture, because it's so cute, but haven't been able to yet. Finn sits on him as if she has a saddle, and bounces up and down, and Bromo just lays there with his cow eyes looking old, tired, and very very patient.

Legoland Part Deux

So, here are the pics I took with the CRAPPY disposable camera because I forgot mine. Well, I didn't forget it, so much as Tom moved it and it was tucked away in the bottom of my travel diaper bag and neither of us knew it was there-- that somehow makes it worse. I'm such a picture snob, and I hated being limited, and not being able to re-shoot things. Oh well, here it is, the rest of legoland.

Finny was a race car driver....
(that's a primus song... sorry, not a very accessible joke)

These are pics of him in the Little Explorers village where kids could run and climb and scream, and play. He went over and under and all around, and had a wonderful time.

Already he's a democrat, and we're so proud. Riding the donkey off into the sunset.
Vote Obama.

Here it is folks, that awful picture that I have feared since giving birth. Some fat lady (me) in an awful hat and baggy tshirt pointing at the camera for the amusement of her son, frozen in time in all my unkempt motherly glory. Note the double chin. Oh well, we can't be lovely forever. Maybe I will be a hot grandma.

We were on the train ride, which he both loved, and feared. But insisted on riding twice, both days we were there.

Hello??? Is anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.... is there anyone home?

ROOOOOAAARRRRRR!
Sorry I cut off the lion's head-- I once again blame the camera.

Tom and his buddy, Einstein. His giant head was really something.
I mean Tom's, not Al's. His was magnificent.

This is a lego Big Apple Skyline, complete with Lady Liberty. It was neat.

It's hard to see it, but this is the daytona 500 track, complete with moving cars, and hundreds upon hundreds of lego people all unique (and redneck) in the stands. It was really something to see the level of detail with the crowd, and once again, I was angry I didn't have my camera to capture more of the detail.

Finn and his new Chum.
No pun intended.
(groan~)

Finn and the firemen. At one point we saw this odd looking lego-man (not these) and were commenting on how it was not made of legos and that was odd, and then it moved toward us scared me nearly to death! It was very creepy, and apparently there was a person in a costume, but they blended in so well with all of the replicas, that I missed it. It was funny!

Here is a Lego replica of that awesome war memorial that I am ashamed to say I've forgotten the name of. But it was really a cool thing to see with such detail so small.

Finn and the King, I mean, his father. The king of dorks.

These busts were pretty cool, despite my mockery. I like Marilyn Monroe and Winston Churchill the best.

I never knew Legos could think.

These were so cool. the level of accuracy with LEGOS in the reproduction was amazing. I mean, it's probably really lame if you've ever seen real art of this calibre, but I'm an uncultured schmuck who never will, so the legos really did it for me.

Told you, crappy disposable camera. Sorry.

Bob the Builder!!! Finn likes him.

On the boat ride to see all the miniature towns.

The Miniature Taj Majal. These things were really so cool. The pictures really don't do them justice. The detail was amazing.

Airplane Fun

Finn had a great time putting his bink in Tom's mouth, but then got upset that he had it. It was so funny.

Here comes the big pouty face.

And here it is again.

Peek A Boo with Daddy!

He's also really into face smashing.

And once in a while he puts his hand down your tonsils.
